Traditional dresses have been the integral part of the culture in South India. There is the tremendous influence of the same; thought there is the westernization that is happening in most parts of the country. The people of south India have been loyal to their civilization and culture thereby maintaining the tradition of wearing the traditional dresses for the home and other religious functions. One among the traditional dresses is the cotton and silk dhotis. The silk and cotton dhotis are the traditional lower wear for men in South India especially in the state of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The kings who had ruled the southern part of India had developed this culture which is being followed till now. The silk and cotton dhotis are a symbol for tradition and there are many types which are available in the same. The people from different castes use the different kinds of silk and cotton dhotis. They come with a couple of colors as their border which makes them look more traditional. The green and the maroon are the common border colors for the cotton dhotis. The silk dhotis are the costly among all the dhotis and have a shining and a royal look.
