"I would suggest that [the roadmap may be less ambitious than years past because we're focused on a handful of core aspects that are the core of Madden 22 and we are also getting underway on Madden 23 in a big manner," Graddy said at the time. "So I'll stick to the same thing we've stated over in the past couple of years"We're a live-streaming service and we'll be continuing to update our game but definitely not talking about a brand new mode."

The report received attention in part due to the fact that franchise mode is a thorny issue for certain Madden players. In reality, the roadmap initially came as a result of the #fixmaddenfranchise campaign that circulated Twitter during the second half of 2020. This was initiated following reports that EA had not planned improvements for franchise mode that year.
