Electric Motorcycle Startup Damon Motors Adds 200-HP Bare-Style ‘HyperFighter’ to Line-Up

Canadian electric motorcycle startup Damon Motors on Wednesday unveiled a new high-performance, tech-laden machine called HyperFighter at the CES 2022 electronics convention in Las Vegas. The new model will join the existing HyperSport, announced two years ago. So far, both machines are in pre-production, with a representative that production of the HyperSport is expected to begin in the first half of 2022 with the release of the HyperFighter in 2023. Damon Motors is building a manufacturing facility in Vancouver, British Columbia right now.To get more news about buy electric motorcycle, you can visit davincimotor.com official website.

Damon already has many pre-orders in place for the high-performance HyperSport, which is a tech-packed all-electric motorcycle with rugged performance and new safety and comfort features, much of which will carry over to the HyperFighter. .

The new HyperFighter will use the base HyperSport basics but will adopt a “naked” or “streetfighter” form factor, which does away with the HyperSports front windshield and full-coverage bodywork in favor of a headlight and a handlebars more basic appearance. The “streetfighter” aesthetic grew out of the custom motorcycle scene of the 1990s, where (re) motorcycle builders took lightly crushed sport bikes, stripped them of their plastic body panel parts (from where the connotation “naked”) and have added off-road motorcycle handlebars and minimal styling instruments or accessories where applicable. The resulting stripped-down, lighter but still high-performance machines have come to be known as “streetfighters” and “bare bikes” in the biker lexicon. The styles were quickly picked up by OEM bicycle builders who now sell new models based on simpler ideals is better.

A safety suite, called CoPilot, uses sensors, cameras and an on-board AI system to alert riders using haptic vibrations in the handlebars. However, at no point does the CoPilot system take control of the motorcycle like lane-keeping and collision avoidance technology does on many modern cars. Because a motorcycle is an inherently unstable vehicle (like bicycles are), sudden control changes not made by the rider can result in loss of control. Therefore, the CoPilot system simply lets drivers know that a car is in the blind spot or that they are following too closely, among other warnings. LED lights in the cockpit will also give pilots visual warnings. Damon CEO Jay Giraud has said since the inception of the company that his goal is to give cyclists a safer riding experience. Experienced entrepreneur, Giraud founded Damon after a motorcycle accident.

Comfort is also a technical issue for Damon. Their new ergonomic Shift system allows riders to change the position of the handlebars and other things, such as the positions of the footrests, weeling. Raising or lowering the handlebars and footrests just a few inches can mean major changes in the ergonomics and comfort of any motorcycle, and on Damon bikes, the Shift system can change the HyperSport riding position of any bike. ‘from a crouch on the road for sporty driving to a more vertical system for navigating city traffic.

While some motorcycles (I’m thinking of BMW) allow seat, bar, and ankle position changes, these changes need to be made with tools when the bike is stationary and cannot be changed while riding. On Damon bikes, small electric motors change these elements on the fly. A video for the HyperFighter indicates that the handlebars will be able to change position, it is not known at this time if other hard parts will be included in the HyperFighter’s Shift system. On the HyperSport, the handlebars, footrests and windshield position can all be changed with the push of a button. I was the first reporter to pilot the Damon prototypes (below) in 2019 and the technology is both new and efficient.

In addition, Damon technology includes their HyperDrive system, which makes the battery a central load-bearing element of the bike, simplifying construction and reducing weight at the same time. HyperDrive was the winner of the innovation award this year as CES.

While most electric motorcycle manufacturers essentially insert a large cube filled with battery cells into a metal frame, which is also similar to how most gasoline motorcycles are built, the Damon HyperDrive system instead uses a Central shaped battery box that conforms to the engine and attaches directly to the suspension system.
