Man arrested in Welwyn Garden City on suspicion of impersonating police officer

A man was arrested in Welwyn Garden City after police were called to a disturbance on a train.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to Welwyn Garden City station at 8.44pm last night following reports of a disturbance on board a Hull bound train.

“A man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and impersonating a police officer.

“He has been taken to a place of safety where he is currently undergoing medical assessment.

“A taser was drawn but not used.”

A Herts Police spokeswoman added: “We received a call at 8.52pm last night with reports of alleged antisocial behaviour on a train that was stopped at Welwyn Garden City station.”
