After watching The Craft: Legacy, you might want to know how magic works in that world.

The Craft: Legacy is an American supernatural horror movie directed and written by Zoe Lister-Jones. The movie is a sequel to the cult movie The Craft released in 1996. It stars Gideon Adlon, Lovie Simone, David Duchovny, and Michelle Monaghan.

The movie was released as a video on demand on 28 October 2020 by Sony Pictures. The film got mixed reviews from audiences as well from critics. The Craft: Legacy got an approval rating of 47% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 76 reviews, with an average of 5.55/10.

On Metacritic, the film got a score of 55 out of 100 and remarked as “mixed or average reviews.” The Craft focuses on female power while talking about issues like toxic masculinity, stigmatization, and bullying.

The movie’s plot revolves around three girls, Tabby, Frankie, and Lourdes, trying to stop time with magic, but they fail to do so successfully; they need a fourth member. On the other hand, Lily Schechner moves to the town with her mother, Helen, to live with her mother and mother’s boyfriend. During class, Lily gets her period, and other students mock her, especially Timmy. Lily pushes Timmy using her telekinetic powers. The group of three girls get impressed by her actions and decide to involve her in their group.

In the movie The Craft: Legacy, magic is used by all the female groups and involves glamor, a force spell, and levitation. The magic also used to transform the school bully Timmy (played by Nicholas Galitzine) into an authentic and respectful person.

The movie reveals that men can also be a witch, as men’s character displays the ability to repel magic and shapeshift. The Craft: Legacy also echoes sentiments regarding the nature of the original; Lirio says that true magic is neither white nor black; it is both as nature contains both. Cruel and loving and all at the same time. The bad or good lie in the heart of the witch.

The shooting of the film began in October 2019; Heather Christian composed the film’s original music. The Craft: Legacy portrays the magic along with the socio-political inequities that are penetrating the society. As the whole film does not stand up to the fan’s expectation, and in the words of Tabby, if you are not using the magic responsibly, do not use it.
