Senator Antonio Trillanes IV slammed President Rodrigo Duterte anew, saying he did not only fail to fulfill his promises to stop corruption and crime in the country, but also actually made the country’s problems worse.

In response to Duterte’s remark he was unable to resolve the traffic problem on Edsa because Congress did not grant him emergency powers as he requested, Trillanes said: “Papano sya bibigyan ng emergency powers, eh nung tinanong kung ano ba plano nila, wala silang maipakita.”

He said Duterte had only wanted the emergency powers to allow the Davao Group to “corner” infrastructure projects.

Trillanes issued the statement days after Duterte, in a speech over the weekend, said he fulfilled all his campaign promises except for his promise to end traffic on Edsa.

“Nangako ako ng free tuition nandyan na ang batas, nangako ako ng free universal healthcare, pirmado ko na ang batas,” Duterte had said in Biñan, Laguna.
