FIFA and Madden NFL franchises will be another example of the additional costs that next-generation technology will bring to games.

EA Sports gamers who are preparing for the next-generation upgrade on PS4 and Xbox One will have to buy the expensive Ultimate Edition for FIFA 22 and Madden 22. Two of the most popular sports franchises in Electronic Arts, Madden NFL is about to launch new games, but it seems that PS4 and Xbox One players may need to spend a lot of money to enjoy the next generation experience.

FIFA and Madden NFL franchises will be another example of the additional costs that next-generation technology will bring to games. Since some publishers now feel that they can offer Xbox Series X|S and PS5 games for $70 instead of $60, the cost of the latest gaming experience is rising. The next generation of upgrades to older games may come at a price, as seen in the PlayStation Plus version of GreedFall and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Although games like Subnautica provide next-generation upgrades without strings attached, FIFA 22 and Madden NFL 22 will be different beasts. Madden 22 Coins allows you to experience more character skills.

Many gamers are already familiar with EA’s dual licensing program, which allows players to upgrade copies of specific games from PS4 to PS5 for free, or upgrade Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S. This was introduced for previous games such as FIFA 21, and will continue to be used in newer EA Sports games, but only in specific versions. Only by MUT 22 Coins can you get two versions of the game. Physical copies of Ultimate Edition and all Standard Edition editions will not include the option of next-generation upgrades on Xbox One and PS4.

Madden NFL 22 is more generous, but still expensive for those who want next-generation upgrades. Players can buy the physical or digital version of the MVP version of the game for $100, or buy the Dynasty version for $120 to get the benefits of dual rights. For gamers who don’t want to spend extra money to get upgradeable versions of these EA games, they will have to buy the Xbox Series X|S or PS5 version at full price.

Although it does make sense to spend money on next-generation upgrades, EA's number of version restrictions and price increases for these games may not satisfy many gamers. FIFA and Madden NFL franchises have often come under fire for their ultimate team game modes, which have been criticized for the money they seem to encourage gamers to spend. If PS4 and Xbox One players want to experience the next generation of FIFA and Madden NFL, they may only need to prepare to spend an extra $40.
