Free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game

Free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Phantasy Star Online 2 eventually made its long-awaited Western debut on Xbox 8 decades after its release. A few days after the Japanese launch on July 3, 2012 of the game, SEGA unveiled plans to PSO2 Meseta for sale deliver Phantasy Star Online 2 over in 2013 to the West. Since the game was forever postponed shortly afterwards that never occurred.

The apparently canceled North American launch resurfaced on July 9, 2019, during Microsoft's E3 press conference where it was revealed that SEGA was eyeing a Spring 2020 launch for the match, which might include cross-play capability between Xbox One and PC. Since the PC version of the game is slated for release, PC players will not have to wait to get in on the action.

Before Asiasoft finally decided to pull the plug on May 26, 2017 support for the game lasted and watched the release of its next installment.

The Phantasy Star series was divided into four installations, all of which were traditional matches. The first title in the series -- only known as Phantasy Star -- was released on the SEGA Master System, while its sequels Phantasy Star 2, Phantasy Star 3: Generations of doom, and Phantasy Star 4: The end of this century were all released on the more powerful SEGA Mega Drive. There were 2 spin-off titles called Phantasy Star Gaiden and Phantasy Star Adventure that started on the lesser-known SEGA Game Gear games console.

SEGA continued the franchise in the form of Phantasy Star Online with a focus on multiplayer. The first and second installments of this three-part series originally launched on the SEGA Dreamcast and were released on Xbox and cheap Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta the Gamecube.
