We have been waiting so long for Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta to emerge in the West -- eight years now -- that it is interesting that you decided to release it first on Xbox One. It's interesting, since the Xbox One is essentially in the previous year of its lifetime as Microsoft transitions to the Xbox Series X. Did you launch on Xbox One because you knew that the Xbox Series X will be backward-compatible, and that people would have the ability to carry their advancement over to another console? Or did Microsoft approach you because they are hungrier for articles than Sony is for the PlayStation 4?

And although there are hardcore fans [who will play frequently and explore all of the articles ] in the North American region, there are still many who aren't knowledgeable about the franchise, and we did not believe it would be fair to release eight decades' worth of content at once. So it is a tiny bit of both.As you say, PSO two did come out eight years ago, and people are wondering why it took so long between the Western release and the Western launch. Do you need to do with the microtransaction program and in-game buys being quite different for Japan?

Did that produce a great deal of work for the development team? It wasn't a great deal of work, however, the team was amazed by how beautiful the enhancements made the game seem. Can it be useful to be able to develop and optimize for a set platform like Xbox One, instead of the myriad permutations that gaming PCs might pose? For the Japanese version it turned out to be a multiplatform release, on PC and PS4, therefore PSO 2 was optimized to provide the best results irrespective of which platform you're playing on. The focus was more on how to bring out the strengths of the platform.

Are you intending any PSO 2-related merchandise or physical variations to the West? Not currently, but when there's a demand for it, which may change. And when we organize offline events and we want to get a merch table, we might look at making merch for something like this. There is not really a channel or a means for selling merchandise, but that might change later on so that we could sell our Japanese product to our North American users. You have already done the Xbox cooperation, where players can recreate an Xbox-branded T-shirt in-game. Presumably you have more crossover articles planned like that?

Will you be able to move your character from ship to ship, if your friends are on a different boat than you? It is not possible right now, but we've heard this petition from other people, also, and it is something we plan on rolling out. It is possible currently in Japan, but even in Japan, you can only move servers or move data once every week through maintenance. There is a particular window and frequency in which you may accomplish this, and that is going to stay the same for the North American region as well. When the original PSO came out, online games weren't really established yet. PSO changed all that. With PSO two, playing games on line today is practically the norm, so now that you did the hard work in pioneering things 20 years ago, you could focus on the design of PSO2 Meseta for sale the sport.
