Halo has been one of the prominent names in the gaming world. Most of us recognize this game with combat. But, Amazon twisted the name with entirely new features. Amazon has launched its Amazon Halo fitness band. One can call it Cole Sear of “The Sixth Sense,” a movie came in 1999. Of course, it won’t talk with the dead but has that sixth sense capability to understand the user’s mood. It is essential to carve the crucial things in front of the user’s desks to get the notion of the new Amazon Halo. Let’s explore the features available in the Amazon Halo.

What can it do?

Like other health and wellness trackers, it can assess and track the body fat percentage, intensity duration of a user’s movement, sleeping patterns, etc. But, apart from this, it has many more things in its treasure. First, it can have the 3D mapping of the body, displaying the number of fats present. It does this by scanning the image. After the scan completion, the mobile app present in the smartphone provides the 3D model of the body fats. Second, Halo claims to understand the human mood. Some may call it lunatic, but Halo observes the voice tone through the in-built microphones present in the device. Once the device records the voice tone, the Amazon Halo analyzes the voice’s “energy and productivity” to display the user’s mood. Its mobile app creates a voice chart presenting the intensity of negativity and positivity in the human. More the positivity in the voice, the better is the mood and vice versa. The users can also bookmark some of the important conversations.

Where’s the screen?

It is quite weird to see that the new Amazon Halo has no screen display. It is merely a band that has fabric and a speaker, along with the control. So, users need to open the mobile app integrated with the Amazon Halo if they want to see any results. So, somewhere Amazon Halo has increased the complexity and tediousness of the device. Also, without the screen, the Amazon Halo looks a bit creepy.

Other Features

The new Amazon Halo comes with three color variants – black, pink, and silvery light blue. It is swim-proof and can withstand water resistance up to 50 meters. Amazon Halo’s battery life can be fascinating due to the lifespan of two days, it offers. However, this can extend up to seven days if the user deactivates or turns off the voice recognition system. According to Amazon, this fitness band takes almost ninety minutes for full charging of the device. Also, Amazon Halo, like other fitness bands, quantifies the activities and provides motivational scores to the users. The Amazon Halo can pair up with the different iOS and Android devices over Bluetooth. But, Amazon has furnished the following devices with which Amazon Halo is not compatible:

  1. LG G5
  2. LG G6
  3. LG v20
  4. Sony Xperia

Tracking

Amazon Halo is tracking almost everything that Apple Watch 6 and Fitbit Sense do. But, there’s one glitch present in the Halo that can create a dent over its image. According to Washington Post (a journal that Jeff Bezos himself owns), if the user rides a bike wearing Amazon Halo on the one hand and Fitbit Sense on the other, they may see large heartbeat rate variations. Where Halo reported a peak heart rate of 129 bpm, the Apple Watch recorded 171 bpm, showing a difference of more than forty bpm. It is due to the fact that there are no buttons present in the Amazon Halo to tell what the user is up to for the time being.

Membership

Amazon Halo can offer many cool features if the user gets ready for its membership. Any membership means the user has to pay a certain amount every month or year to maintain the services. With Amazon Halo, a user gets a free six-month subscription and pays after the six months expires. After the free period gets over, Amazon Halo membership costs $3.99 per month. However, for some, it can be like consuming another pain pile of subscriptions. But, it is not that Amazon Halo stops working if the user does not continue their subscription. Even without the subscription, Halo would track the steps and heart rate. Apart from this, it would provide the user with a basic level of sleep tracking.

Conclusion

Amazon Halo has tried to tap the unchartered territory like the body fat percentage and mood recognition of the user through its image scanning and voice tone recognizer, respectively. The price of the Amazon Halo is $99. However, if selected for the trial of Amazon Halo, it may cost the user $64.99. Some of the features are highly rich, especially the two new ones that are not present in any other fitness bands or smartwatches, along with the impeccable battery life. Yet, some glitches like no screen, lack of proper motion, and user action may hit the minds not to buy it.
