In this article, we will discuss how you can set custom screensavers on Android TV. No doubt, the Android TV comes with an already added feature for screensavers, but when it comes to functionality, it is quite limited. We say this because neither you are provided an option to set your desired image as your screensaver, nor you can modify the transition effect or the aspect ratio.

If you also want an effective way of setting your desired screensavers on your Android TV, follow the below-mentioned steps to set custom screensavers on your device. So, let us proceed further to accomplish this task.

Enable Customized Screensavers on Your Android TV

Follow the below-mentioned steps to enable customized screensavers on your Android TV:

  • First, you need to go to your Android TV’s Play Store.
  • Further, search “screensaver” in the search bar.
  • Now, you need to install “Photo Gallery Screensaver.”
  • Once you have installed the app, you need to open it.
  • Then, head over to the settings.
  • Open the “Photo Sources” option.
  • Then, scroll below to open “Local,” which will let you set desired screensavers from your Android TV’s local storage. You can also connect the Google Photos as a screensaver.
  • Further, tap on the “Add Local Directory” option and grant permission so that your local storage can be accessed.
  • You need to then go to the “Internal Shared Storage” and tap on “Choose current directory” appearing at the top, and the complete local storage of your Android TV will get added to the application.
  • You need to open the Settings and tap on “Set your screensaver.”
  • Further open “Screensaver” and select “Photo Gallery and Screensaver.” Meanwhile, you can make customizations regarding the inactivity period after which the screen saver appears. That’s all you have to do.
  • You can now test those custom screensavers that you have set. For that, tap on “Default Your Settings” that will appear under “Start Screensaver.”
  • Now the screen savers will appear live on the Android TV. From now on, the custom screensavers will be started on your Android TV according to the inactivity time that has been set by you.
  • If the images are not visible on the app, tap on “Sync Now,” and a rescanning process will begin, and the entire gallery of the local directory will be rescanned.

So, these were the steps with which you can set custom screensavers on your Android TV even though it doesn’t allow users to upload their local images.
