My Hero Academia: What to expect from the Upcoming Season and the Possible Release Date

Comments · 726 Views

A few weeks ago, it was made official that My Hero Academia will make its return next year with season 5. We will soon be able to see Deku’s journey to become the greatest Hero in Japan, following the footsteps of All Might, his mentor and predecessor.

However, when the upcoming Season was announced, no one was expecting the show’s return so soon since there have been several year gaps between two seasons in the past. So, Studio Bones surprised the anime fans, and now there are a lot of theories on what to expect from the show.

Although season 5 certainly has a lot to offer, the franchise has done well and given very little hints about the possible storyline. People who have read the manga know where the story is headed, but those who don’t follow it must have a lot of questions after the end of season 4. The promotional video that was released does not give away anything. Although the manga fans know what might happen, it still won’t take the excitement of seeing their favorite heroes in action.

Release Date

As far as the release dates are concerned, Season 5 has been announced to release in the spring of 2021. Since most spring anime premier somewhere around in April, we can expect the same for My Hero Academia too. The poster released by the franchise shows a complete makeover of the hero costumes of Class 1-A, but the most interesting part of it has been the return of Shinso Hitoshi, who was last seen during the Sports Festival. Ever since its Season 1, the series always had a 25-episode format, which would probably not change in 2021. Although there are rumors of the possible end of the manga and the anime, such information has no credibility since most animation studios and Shonen Jump always ensure that they announce that the series has entered the final arcs.

Season 4

By the end of season 4; Endeavor has won the people’s trust as Hero No. 1 after successfully defeating Hood. Although his victory has instilled confidence in Japan’s people, the high-end Nomu was successful in pushing him to his limits. It would be unwise to assume that Hood’s defeat calls for celebration since if the villains could do so much damage with Nomu alone, it’s scary to think how dangerous their next attack can be. Even the way the whole fight happened, it appeared that the villains were only testing Hood’s abilities and were not interested in victory or defeat. So, instead of celebration, Endeavor’s victory calls for a serious deliberation over what might be the next big plan for the villains.

The viewers were also introduced to the top 10 heroes of Japan. There were a few fresh faces, and the most intriguing was the #2 hero, Hawks. He played a big part in rescuing people when Endeavor was fighting Hood to protect civilians and showed great skill. It appears that he will play an important role in the upcoming Season. However, the most interesting event from Season 4 was the mysterious dreams that Deku had in which he saw the previous holders of One for All. There is little clarification about what this meant, and hopefully, the upcoming episodes will delve much more into it.

What to expect from Season 5

Since the conflict against Overhaul has been done with and Endeavor has risen to take All Might’s responsibilities, in Season 5, we can expect to see a new beginning for the show. The short promotional video teased that there is going to be a competitive training session between the students of Class 1-A and Class 1-B. Although it might appear just some training for the students on the surface, there is a good possibility that the villains plan something sinister. They have always targeted Class 1-A students in the first four seasons and there is no reason for it to change in the upcoming Season.

There are also rumors that Shinso can be transferred to Class 1-A. Since the promotional video and the poster has given him so much importance, it seems likely that he will play a big role now after being sidelined since the Sports Festival. Even though we didn’t see Shigaraki anywhere so far in the promotions leading up to the next Season, it is obvious that he will make his return soon. After the defeat of Overhaul, he did play a minimal role and got his hands on the Quirk-erasing bullets, which is going to be a significant asset for the villains. With the release just a few months away, the possibilities are endless, and we might see the best of My Hero Academia since it has only gotten better with time.
